Boxer Lovlina borgohain was appointed as trainee deputy superintendent (DSP) In the Assam police on Wednesday, 12th January.
GUWAHATI: Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist lovlina boroghain has been appointed as a trainee DCP by the Assam police on Wednesday morning by the chief minister of the state, Himanta Biswas Sharma. Borgohain represented the country in Tokyo Olympics last year. She won a bronze medal in the 69kg category making the country incredibly proud of her. As a result, she has been honored by her state government.

The Assam chief minister presented the appointment letter to the boxing champion during the ceremony at the state headquarters of Janta Bhawan. He also assured her of a monthly sum of ₹ 100,000 to help her in training. The chief minister also regarded Borgohain winning the bronze at Tokyo Olympics as one most glorious moments of the state's sporting history Lovlina is the second sportswoman to be appointed a DSP in Assam, Last year in February Sprinter Hima Das was appointed the same. The 24-year-old boxing star expressed her gratitude in a tweet "I am elated being given this opportunity to serve my people in the role of Deputy Superintendent of Police. I am thankful to Hon'ble CM @himantabiswa sir. But my main focus will be to work hard in sports and bring a gold medal for our country"
